4.2 Gozo Human Resources Development


The island of Gozo encounters a number of serious constraints and handicaps that require the specific attention of ESF interventions conducted in the frame of the Malta's specific Priority for Gozo. The development of human resources constitutes a core Priority for specific support to Gozo as the local level of underemployment and inactivity is rather high, associated with a low level of income. Gozo's specific needs require activities aimed at improving the employability, adaptability and skills qualifications of local citizens through appropriate training and vocational education schemes with particular emphasis on addressing disparities in gender equality and the needs of the Gozitan tourism and crafts sectors.
