Subject:
Retirement proposals unfair

Comments:
The later retirement proposals are most unfair. People over 50 should not be included in this scheme. I am now 52, and have been working continuously for 33 years. It is those employees who have taken parental leave who should be expected to work longer. Why should people who have taken four years off work retire at the same age as those of us who kept on working and had to do their work for them until they came back? If I retire at 60, I shall have been working non-stop for 41 years. If I retire at 62 as proposed, the total will be 43 years. Moreover, if we keep on working, this will increase unemployment. We will not be able to give to same contribution to our jobs after 60, surely it is better to employ someone in their 20s or 30s in our place. If we are to work after 60, then at the very least our full pension should be given to us, and there should be no Lm6,000 limit.
